This is an interim update...

As I’ve been saying to anyone who emails…

The shipping company are on the case with the factory, so it’s all imminent. They are chasing them for all the weights and measurements etc. and there is NOTHING we can do to speed this up. 

We have written a draft update and the second we have the go ahead that something has changed, I will post it. Until then, this is a ‘more delays’ update which irritates you all JUST AS MUCH as hearing nothing, but just to break the silence.

Please wait patiently for the news that we will be posting... these delays are 100% out of our hands and no bad mouthing is necessary.  Thank you :)

There are a lot of people that have their own opinions, but we actually work for Spidermind Games, so although this delay is irritating, it’s not going to last forever and we know this for a fact.

The Dice are on Their Way

Great News folks, the Dice are on the move. 

Having completed the audit and reprint of a selection of dice, they have been released and will be travelling to our freight forwarder very soon. As soon as space has been booked on a vessel we will release the name of the boat and the MarineTraffic tracking link. 

Many thanks again to all our backers for your patience as we have developed this totally new manufacturing process to create these unique dice. 

As we mentioned in our last update, we donated our sample sets of the Dragon Eye Dice to the charity Extra Life for their Lord of the Rings™ Roleplaying Game playthrough, The Red Scribe. This event was shot at LA Comic Con in December last year. The entire playthrough can be seen here. Available on the IGN channels from 11am tomorrow morning.

A ten minute cut down of the live event will be aired in cinemas around the US and Canada from tomorrow night. This will be screened prior to a showing of Return of the King, to celebrate its 20th Anniversary. If you are interested and want tickets, you can find out more information here.

Quality Control Audit Ongoing.

Following on from our last update to you folks, we have had an update of our own, from the factory, last night. They reported on the audit and predicted that the process should be completed by the end of the month. We will, as promised, update with any solid dates when we receive one.

In our last update (and answers to comments below the update) we elaborated on the reason for the delay and our wish to leave the QA team to handle the inspection. Whilst we understand that the factory is not being paid for this process and so is doing this as well as usual manufacturing tasks, we have pressed for a conclusion as strongly as we can.

We totally understand the frustration of any backer when a project is delayed, as we are backers ourselves. As a company, we are also in a position where no further dice products can be sold until this inaugural project is launched, which is costing us money. What we are aware of is everyone’s patience and support on this project and we are working as hard as we can to get the complete dice on the water as soon as possible.

We will be back at the end of the month with an update and hopefully that all important date.

Quality Checks Taking Time

A huge apology to all our backers for the continued delay in getting these dice on the water. We can assure you all that we are as keen, if not the keenest, to get these products moving as we now have a number of other dice collections lined up to follow.

The issue with the delay was quality control and then packaging, both of which are integral parts of our process and fundamentally affect the quality of the final product. Having developed this new technology we not only want to deliver high quality Dragon Eye Dice but this new process will form the foundation of many more collections to come. Therefore, it is vital that we get this right. Please also be mindful that whilst Thanksgiving and Christmas meant time off in November and December here in the west, the Chinese New Year begins soon and shipping may well be affected by this and potential covid shutdowns.

We will be looking to post an update as soon as we have more news and we will get you the boat tracking link as soon as we have it.

Level Up

The holiday season has been amazing for the Level Ups which has meant we have completely sold out of the Classic in the US. We can now ship from the UK into mainland US but do remember, with our current 20% sale on, you can grab a Square at a hefty discount.

New Product Development

Having worked really hard with our factory and our product design company, we have a number of dice releases lined up for immediate launch as soon as the Chromatic dice have been fulfilled. 

Having read requests here on Kickstarter and on our socials, Gem Dragons are also a collection we have begun design work on as well as the Metallics. The plan would be gemstones in the centre with the corresponding dragon eye printed on it, our problem is choosing which ones. Our current master list has the following dragons: Amethyst, Crystal, Emerald, Sapphire, Topaz, Obsidian, Onyx, Jade, Ruby and Amber. Thats quite a collection! We may have to reduce it a little, let us know what 6 you would want to see. We will look to run a poll when we get closer to the final design work.

The last 18 months have been an incredible journey of discovery with an entire system being built and then rebuilt to produce these amazing dice. With each of our five successfully produced and fulfilled Kickstarter campaigns, we hate delays and the frustration this causes but we are on it and will be chasing updates on a daily basis.

We will continue to update here on any movement and we are, as always, extremely grateful for all your patience and support throughout the development of these new dice.

As we get very close to the end of the year and the beginning of the holiday season, we thought we could squeeze in one more update before 2023.

The delivery of the dice had to be delayed, as mentioned in update #27, but unfortunately for a little longer than we had hoped. This has meant the completion of the dice moved from the end of November to this week. Our shipping agent has been kept in the loop and is ready to collect the shipment when it is forwarded to the holding warehouse. Shipping dates and links to the tracking of the delivery will be posted up here when we have them. 

In the meantime we have been busy preparing for the arrival of the dice and spreading the news. Below we have posted some more images of the dice, some of these pictures will be appearing on our website to replace the renders previously used.

Coming Soon to a Shop Near You.

Back in October Spidermind Games went to the Essen Game Fair in Germany to meet with a number of global distributors to talk dice and other Spidermind Games products. These meetings went exceptionally well and we signed with a number of distributors from Canada, Europe, the UK, South Africa and Australia. The reactions we had from the people we met, especially showing off the dice, was very encouraging and we are looking forward to building some amazing partnerships with these contacts.

We are expecting a number of orders to come through by the end of January and so we are currently looking at a second order of the Dragon Eye Dice as well as the first run from our Dice Collectors Club. These distribution deals will hopefully see our products in game stores around the world in the second half of 2023, which is a very exciting prospect. 

Lord of the Rings

A little earlier in the year we were contacted by the team over at the charity game event company Lost Odyssey. They produce high-end celebrity gameplay shows and a few weeks ago they hosted their biggest event at the LA Comic Con to benefit Extra Life for Kids and Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. This event was a play through of the Lord of the Rings Roleplaying game with some recognizable participants. We were delighted when we were invited to provide dice for the event, and so swiftly forwarded on to them the sample sets we had received from our factory prior to them beginning the full production run.

To get a glimpse of what the event is and how everyone will get an opportunity to see it, they released a number of trailers on these platforms. See if you can catch a glimpse of the dice and the eggs in action.

Also do take a look at the ebay hosted market place for the charity. We will be placing the Dragon Eye Dice in the market place closer to the release date and this will be covered in a future trailer. 

The Spidermind Games team will be on holidays from this weekend until the 5th January 2023. We will be working behind the scenes on the delivery during the holidays but our customer service team will be off between these dates.
